book buybacks
so excited that I got $94 for all my books! they weren’t using any new editions for next semester so I was able to sell all of them. so much better than the $2 I got last semester!
now it’s time to crank out this paper for 1750 on Baroque vocal ornamentation, find a piano player for my performance practice performance piece tomorrow, and learn my song.

a near death experience.
my mom was driving me back from school for spring break tonight. her, dad, and i just had a nice meal at perkins and everything was going great for once. no arguing, nice conversation, actual laughing. now for the car ride: i was peacefully reading a page-turner of a book in the heated passenger seat with my ipod on. dad is dozing in the backseat, hat over his eyes. all of the sudden, my...
on luxury.
luxury is typically defined in terms of rare extravagance and spoiling oneself - something out of the ordinary. however, i don’t feel that in order for something to be considered luxurious that it has to be an expensive rare treat. luxury is all around us, if we just take the time to appreciate and enjoy what we have. luxury is simplicity. it is a reading a good book outside, in a dress, and...
shit! i hate piano!
the piano part of the musicianship assessment is tomorrow, not thursday as i had originally thought. i really should have read my notes on this earlier on in the night.. kicking myself for procrastinating on everything.
i also wish i never quit playing as a kid, because i would have been really freaking awesome by now and wouldn’t stress over things like this.
lalalalala!
i’m playing guitar and singing instead of tackling the mass amounts of things that are due/required for tomorrow. only feeling slightly guilty about this. i figure, if i can’t concentrate anyway when i’m not playing, why not learn a new song or two in the meantime?
however, i still have to:
-finish a powerpoint.
-do at least 10 online assignments for italian (i’m really...

and i don't even like spiders
one was hanging by it’s thread outside of my dorm and i was bored so i blew cigarette smoke on it to see what would happen. it dropped down really fast, curled up, and died. i felt horrible because i unintentionally killed it when it was just minding its own business :(
i really want
-a kindle
-multiple rosetta stones (especially italian, german, swedish and french)
-unlimited free plane tickets
-my room to clean itself
-warm weather
-mio preferisco tedesco ragazzo
(or to be authentic: mein Favorit deutscher Junge) </3

also interesting, did you know that there are different lengths of infinity? finding out how to “measure” them in class = mind blowing. my comp sci class is confusing, yet really cool.
proving truths in class
so the basic concept is "if x, then y" easy enough right? i'm glad my professor puts up with me.
professor: if mike knocks his hand against the table, it hurts. mike knocks his hand against the table. we can therefore conclude that mike's hand hurts. true?
me: you worded it like the table is the one that is hurting.
professor: (rewrites on board) if mike knocks his hand against the table, his hand hurts.
me: what if he has gloves on?
professor: if mike knocks his bare, real hand against the table, his hand hurts.
me: what if it's a periodic table? or a table of contents?
professor: (on board) LOL.

– from Christopher Small’s article titled “Musiking: A Ritual in Social Space” (which I’m currently reading for my Musics of the World class). I completely agree with him!
